Tarpon Springs

Tarpon Springs FL is the home to a significant Greek community with Sponge harvesting their primary source of income.  Trick and I visited a sponge museum today.  We hear a lot of Greek being spoken in the streets and stores.  Who knew?

This is how they string sponges together by size.
We learned about the history of sponge diving.

They closed the street for a party

Catch of the day???
It looks like tomorrow afternoon we should be able to cast off and head out for our 150 mile crossing of the Gulf of Mexico.  It will take 18 hours to reach "C Quarters" marina in Carrabelle FL with an ETA of 7AM Monday morning just after sunrise.  Should be interesting.  I am hoping for clear skies so we can take advantage of the nearly full moon to look for crab pot buoys.

Say Bye Bye Tarpon Springs!!!
