February 2015

I wanted to head out mid January to start down the Gulf Coast but it did not happen as the transmission took forever.

Feb 5th, 2015.  Dog River Marina finally called and told me the transmission was reinstalled and working fine.

Feb 7th, flew into Mobile, rented a car, stopped for groceries and spent the night on the boat for the first time in 2015.

Feb 8th, (Sunday) nice weather, futzed around the boat with little projects.  Did another run to the grocery store and went to Lowes to get new rope lights for the sundeck.

Feb 9th, Ray from Middleton Marine came aboard to work on starboard fuel vent (I had asked them to repair back in December but it got missed…with the vent clogged I cannot fill the tank at normal rate and the motor draws primarily from port tank so it has to get fixed).  He needed to order a new vent and I also had him order in new fuel filters to have him replace on Tue.  I looked at an interesting sailboat, a Fischer Noreaster 30, Pilot House Ketch at the marina next door.  The broker is a very interesting guy, in fact I purchased his book, “First Time Across” by James Cash.  Good read.

Tuned up both bikes and went for a short ride just before sunset.  Veggie burger for dinner then watched “Better Call Saul”.

Feb 10th.  Exchanged Anniversary wishes with Missy.
I married a very beautiful and strong woman!  She is my rock especially when I am out of town on my adventures.

Snowing back home, 40 degrees here when I got up at 7AM.  Ray came over at 9:30 to work on fuel filters.  New fuel vent was wrong one so he hooked up the old one after cleaning it out best he could.  I asked him to pick up a new battery for the genset for me and that took all day before it showed up at the marina.  I took the boat down to the fuel dock around 4PM to fuel so I could head out before sunrise in the morning.  The starboard tank filled perfectly!  Yea!  Mike showed up around 5PM with the new battery so I installed it then took off with the marina pick up to get a couple more things at the grocery store (needed dishwashing liquid).  Great avocado, tomato, broccoli, cauliflower, pecan salad for dinner.  No sugar for three days now…..gonna stay the course and loose the gut!  Talked with Missy for an hour.  We both posted Anniversary wishes on Facebook and we received a ton of comments…..very sweet
