Dog River November 6th, 2013

November 6, 2013

Slept in until 6 AM.  Maintenance day…I took my time getting going and worked on the blog until 8:30.  Fueled the boat….150 gal for 230 hard miles.  We were pushing pretty hard getting from Demopolis to Mobile and I am pretty happy about the mileage.  I now have 2666.6 hours on the motors and they are running great…..of course XP3 is helping them run so well!

Trick and I walked down to the West Marine here in the marina to get some electrical parts.  I stopped in the Yard Office to see if it was possible to haul the boat….I wanted to check the bottom, check the zincs, and repair the exhaust diffusers (they are loose and rattle like crazy).  I did not expect they could do it same day but it never hurts to ask…right?

Sure, they could get to it right after lunch.  Cool!  We went back to the boat and started to work on our electrical issue and the yard foreman walks down the dock and tells me they had a cancellation and could get to it right now.  Very Cool!

I fired her up and motored down to the travel lift and they hauled Aye Sea No Snow right out.

The bottom paint is peeling a little but I should be okay for the winter.  They washed the boat right away. The prop shaft zincs needed replacing and then they worked on the exhaust diffusers.  All went well and we were back in the water by noon so the crew could get to lunch on time.  Very very cool!

The Dog River Marina crew were fantastic.  I would recommend this marina to everyone.  John and Diane showed up in the afternoon and they are going to have Tutto Bene repaired here.

Motored back to a slip and after lunch another of the Dog River crew came down to look at the radar.  After a little tweaking, the radar is up and running again.   I am very happy with how well everything went.  Trick and I added stop leak to the gen set so I have high hopes for that issue also.

Chris is always smiling!

Kerm must not have been interested in the conversation the girls were having on the dock.

We took the courtesy car into town for a little provisioning and then back to the boat for dinner.  Trick doctored up a veggie burger for me that was delicious.   After I finished the blog I hit the sack for an early start tomorrow.  It will be fun to travel with Kerm and Chris but I do not know what speed they will run so we might get ahead of them.  The weather is not looking good for a Gulf Crossing for some time so I might have to leave the boat up in the panhandle for a month when I fly home next week.
