Nov
3rd…..
Up
at 4:45 – We have lost daylight savings time so now it is an hour earlier on
the clock to get up at the same time relative to sunrise.
Normal
morning routine, motors started at 5:45, away from the dock at 5:55 and out of
the marina at 6AM…..right on time.
Tom
Beville lock is right outside the marina and a two (Francis Benedict with
flammable liquids) was coming through upstream and Chippawa was waiting to go
downstream. I called Chippawa and asked
permission to lock through and they granted my request since they had nothing
hazardous so long as the lockmaster was okay with it. The lockmaster was good with the idea so we
waited for Chippawa to enter and secured in the chamber. Pisces woke up and called to see if he could
join the party. His timing was perfect
and he pulled in behind us after we had entered alongside Chippawa.

Here comes Pisces!!! |
We were out of the lock by 7AM and on our way to Demopolis. Pisces passes us coming out of the lock to run down to Demopolis….we will see them there tonight.
I could see Trident on
the AIS coming downstream but lost him leaving Beville and he did not pop up on
my screen again.
Beautiful
morning…..it does not get better than this………….with one thing missing….funny
how I miss my bride and her name just happens to be “Missy”….I know she is with
me in Spirit and keeping track of me during the day.
Life
is so great when you just go with the flow………..Life is perfect if you allow it
to be! So many people try to control
life and then are unhappy when they cannot…………..no one can control their
lives……..sure there are choices and decisions but the ultimate decision is to
accept, enjoy, appreciate, and be grateful for all that comes your way! Some
choose to worry, and fret, get upset with delusional objectives. I am a glass half full guy and enjoying every
moment of it!!! It is days like this
that I am overwhelmed with my abundance of opportunities to live life to the
fullest! I am very grateful!
Not
too many tugs today and no bass fishermen.
“Jody McMinn” passes us at 10:30 and we arrived at Howell Heflin lock at
11:10 but had to wait until 11:35 to enter.
The lockmaster came over on his scooter and chatted a while…very nice
guy. We were out at 11:50 and passed the
spot where Missy and I broke down and spent a night last November (mile
264).
Trick
took the helm for a considerable amount of time today at the helm. He really gets into and notices every
detail. Between Skipper Bob’s Cruising
Guide and the Garmin Chart Plotter it is easy to stay on course.
Having
Trick at the helm allowed me to just enjoy the warm sunshine (Rachael would be
SO jealous). I am so looking forward to
seeing the Dolphins playing in Aye Sea No Snow’s wake and smelling the salt
air!
We
met “Hazel” at 3:00 PM and then 7 miles from Demopolis we were passed by “One
More Time” out of Marco Island.
About
that time Pisces showed up on our AIS so we were on the home stretch. We fueled up (very pleased with my fuel
consumption thanks to XP3!!!) and then grabbed a slip for the night. My cell signal finally works so I got to talk
with Missy before dinner and will be able to talk to her tonight…………very
pleased about that!
We
plan to head out to Bobby’s Fish Camp in the morning and then blast to Mobile
on Tuesday. I talked to Kerm and he and
Chris are at Dog River Marina and plan to stay there a couple of days so we
will catch up to them on Tue night…..YEA!
