Today was our first day on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). We left Bennett Brothers Yachts marina around 9ish after finishing up some odds and ends and making sure we didn't forget anything and took the Cape Fear River (can you believe there actually is a Cape Fear River?!) to the ICW ~ it was fantastic!
We had a minor transmission glitch at Southport, but Bill was able to fix it.
The weather was great ~ 70 degrees and sunny. We saw many palatial estates along the way...
next to a few motor home parks....a very interesting dynamic.
The only real tragedy was when the wake from our boat inadvertently dumped an unsuspecting fisherman off his feet and into the water! But his buddies yanked him back into the boat, handed him his fishing pole and a beer....and all was forgiven.
We saw sandy beaches and blue skies.........we had dolphins following us at various points along the way (they are too quick and camera shy to take advantage of a photo opportunity).
Tonight we are staying at Barefoot Landing Marina in the heart of Myrtle Beach. There are 102 shops and restaurants within walking distance....spent a little time shopping after dinner at the Flying Fish Market Restaurant.
Overall it was a wonderful first day for Captain and Crew. I must say my knots are coming along very nicely :)
Bill here: That "minor" transmission glitch resulted in not being able to engage forward gear in my starboard motor. This was discovered while pulling up to the fuel dock. Very STRESSFUL but a minor repair after getting safely to the dock.
